Hamas authorities in Gaza should bring to justice those responsible for a rocket attack that killed a civilian in Israel on March 18, 2010, Human Rights Watch said today. Ansar al-Sunna, a previously unknown Palestinian armed group in Gaza, claimed responsibility for the attack. The rocket, launched from Gaza, killed Manee Singmueangphon, a 33-year-old Thai migrant worker who was working in a commercial greenhouse in the Israeli community of Netiv Ha'asara, 400 meters north of the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband has called on the "paranoid" Iranian regime to respect its people's "basic human rights". He denied sending a "coded" message of support to the opposition in Tehran in a greeting sent out to mark the Norouz festival marking Iran's new year. In it he expressed hope that the Iranian people "will be able to enjoy a year that fulfils their hopes and ambitions and allows them to express freely their own aspirations for the future".

What I am saying is that the Iranian people should be able to demonstrate, to express their views in an open way without fearing being beaten, imprisoned, shot in the streets or, is some cases, executed in show trials   -David Miliband

All people in an area where an avalanche cascaded down a mountain in B.C.'s interior, killing one snowmobiler Friday night, have been accounted for, police said Saturday. Police said there were two groups of snowmobilers in the area on Eagle Pass Mountain at the time of slide. Two snowmobilers going up the hill triggered the avalanche, police believe.

As most people expected, Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski left their Saturday meeting with NASCAR vowing to play nice for the foreseeable future. It was their first contact since Edwards intentionally wrecked Keselowski in the final laps of the March 7 race near Atlanta. Two days later, Helton put Edwards on probation for three races, starting this weekend at Bristol, Tenn.

Get out ahead of a problem. No employer wants the public to know that it has employees who get terminated as the result of alleged bad actions. But when that employer is a public entity, the desire to keep things quiet may be overwhelming, especially in an election year.
